  1. Not only can it be eaten as a mush you can grind it into a fine powder after drying it to make flour.

  2. Thanks for posting this.  Something I wonder is why they don't crack the acorns in the same way they do the hazelnuts.  Perhaps these particular acorns are too oblong, but I've been able to hit the top of an acorn with a rock to crack them open without damaging the meat inside, just as they did with the hazelnuts.  Seems to make it a lot easier.
